IFM

A major manufacturer of solar panels planned to expand their production by over 200%. Their expansion resulted in a 15 million dollar construction project that included provisions for a high purity water source.

In the process of making solar panels, high quality water is essential. To put the necessary coatings on glass to make them convert sunlight to electricity, multiple cleaning steps are necessary. IFM had been providing Service Deionization Tanks to this company for years and was familiar with their water requirements.

The new plant design called for 215,000 gallons per day (GPD) of 16 meg ohm water, with plant process flows of 175 GPM. The water also needed to be sterile and low in T.O.C. (Total Organic Carbon).

The final design included water softeners, carbon absorption towers, a two-pass reverse osmosis system (R.O.) system, VFD driven pumps, mixed bed deionizers, ultra violet disinfection, sub-micron filtration and T.O.C. destruction. The centralized control panel reads pressures, temperatures, flows, conductivity and multiple other points.

One of the unique features of the double pass R.O. is that either pass may be operated individually or in parallel to provide the client the versatility they require, and keep up with their water needs.

The entire system came on-line ahead of schedule and on budget. IFM is currently providing system preventive maintenance services and system operations training of the client's staff.
